TELK Safety department has recently published a new safety manual which serves as a guide for TELK employees that are to be kept in mind while they are in work.
TELK Company functions as per guide lines issued from Department of Factories and Boilers, Govt. of Kerala and as per the Factories Act, 1948 and the Kerala Factory rules.Company has appointed a qualified safety officer having qualification as per Rule 81F of Kerala Factory Rules 1957. He works directly under the control of the Chief Executive of the factory and also assists the factory management in the fulfilment of its obligation, statutory or otherwise, concerning prevention of personal injuries and maintenance of a safe working environment.
As per Rule 811 of Kerala Factory Rules TELK has formed a Safety Committee which includes equal number of management representatives and the workers representatives. General Manager is the Chairman and Safety Officer is the secretary of the Safety Committee. Safety committee meets as often as necessary but at least once in every quarter. Safety committee deals with all matters concerning Health, Safety and Environment and arrive at practical solutions to problems encountered.
To bring down accident to a lower value, Company is arranging in house safety training for Safety awareness and training using eminent safety specialists/faculties from universities. Special job safety training is also being given to employees working in those particular areas. Various categories of employees are being sent and got safety training on various subjects organised by National Safety Council of India. All accidents are being reported to Department of Factories and Boilers. All Shops are provided with First Aid box and medicine as listed in Kerala Factory Rules. All injured employees are getting First Aid treatment from LF hospital Angamally which is 2Km away from TELK. If further treatment is required, company make arrangement for sending the victim to some other super speciality hospital. All reportable accidents are investigating and safety advices are being given by the Safety Officer. Company is providing ISI certified High quality Personal Protective Equipments such as Safety Helmet, Safety Shoes, Goggles, Hand Gloves, Safety Belts, Ear Muff, Mask, Air Respirator, Apron, etc.
Company provides welfare standards such as quality Drinking water, Sanitary convenience, Washing Facilities, Dress changing rooms, Accommodation for clothing, Canteen facilities etc. as per Kerala Factory Rules.
